2 WOMEN ARRESTED FOR BRIBERY IN SATTAHIP DRUGS CASE



On the 15th August 2009 two women attempted to bribe officials in
Sattahip for the release of a drug dealer, "Jang Gong Teuy”, who had
been arrested the previous day on possession charges. The women were
themselves arrested following a sting operation, and will be charged
with bribery.

Mrs. Suchada Sookkum, [40], originally from Pijit province, had called Mr.
Surachet Keawkom, the Sattahip district deputy, to offer 80,000 baht cash to
close the case. An appointment was made and Mrs. Suchada, accompanied by Ms.
Supaporn Tepnoum, [33], residing at Moo. 4, Plutaloung, arrived at the Sattahip
District office and brought the money to the Sattahip district-chief officer.
